East 7th Street Corridor

fd2s served as the wayfinding and graphics consultant on the multi-disciplinary team responsible for transforming Austin’s long-neglected East 7th Street corridor into an attractive gateway into Austin from the city’s airport. Our involvement with the project included  the design and documentation of wayfinding signage and placemaking elements, and the creation of a distinctive district map. We also provided bidding and contract administration services for all wayfinding and placemaking elements. 

A key component of the system is a series of large “obeliscos” that convey pedestrian wayfinding information, establish a sense-of-place for the district, and incorporate public art.
