Wayfinding Consulting
fd2s conducted a thorough assessment of the City of Lewisville’s parks and trails inventory prior to authoring a wayfinding master plan for this North Texas community of 130,000 residents. Working closely with Parks and Recreation Department leadership, the fd2s team developed a wayfinding lexicon that addresses form and function for park identification, trail identification, and systemwide orientation signage, with the latter displaying a coordinated master map with an inventory of public assets.
Implementations of the master plan design recommendations include a large segment of the Garden Ridge Trail, Railroad Park, and Green Commons and Bill Weaver Arena. The overarching goal is to knit together the community’s ever-expanding network of parks and trails by deploying the strategy and design tactics from the wayfinding master plan over time and as funding becomes available.
