Our design team was presented with a unique challenge: create a distinct identity for a new apartment community to be built on the birthplace site of Spanish-language broadcasting in the United States. Erected in 1955, the former Univision headquarters was demolished after a lengthy battle waged by local preservationists and activists and subsequently relocated to the city’s Northwest Side.
Paying homage to the site’s significant history, the graphic identity and signage program recall Univision’s geometric logotype while also acknowledging architectural and landscape palettes firmly rooted in the local design vernacular.
