Building on our 2017 collaboration with Headwaters of the Comal and design teammate, Lake Flato, fd2s has been engaged to develop the recognition system that honors donors whose generosity will underwrite Phase 2 of this dramatic transformation of the one-time industrial site.
Wings Over the Rockies | Centennial Campus

On the heels of our visioning efforts with Wings Over the Rockies last year, we’re excited to begin programming and designing a system of placemaking and wayfinding elements for this mixed-use campus located southeast of Denver. In addition to a public charter school and an exhibit gallery focused on aviation, the site will soon be home to a food and beverage venue with plans on-the-boards for a future exhibit gallery that touts space exploration.

Having just returned from a week-long Wayfinding Assessment, during which our team toured over 30 Great Parks sites located across Cincinnati via car, bicycle, and foot, we are excited to tackle the system's unique challenges alongside our capable colleagues at Kimley-Horn.

Our collaboration with Middle Trinity Groundwater Conservation District, Studio Outside, Lake Flato Architects, and Bridge Project will yield a modest program of interpretive signage punctuated with three major learning nodes: The Confluence, The Roots, and The Recharge (shown here). These learning nodes are anchored by installations that are equal parts art and water conservation education.
ALS Association | Ongoing support for mission-minded organization serving those affected by ALS

ALS Association’s Under Ballou Skies fundraising events this past week marked fd2s’s sixth year of involvement with the organization. As always, the dinner, auction, and golf tournament were fun, but seeing funds and awareness being raised for ALS patients in Texas is what will bring us back every year!
Historic Third Ward | Initial reconnaissance completed for new wayfinding & placemaking program for Milwaukee’s premier food-and-arts district

Several days of walking, driving, interviewing, photographing, and imbibing with visitors, residents, faculty members, business owners and operators, and other interested stakeholders, in the Ward yielded a wealth of information. These insights will inform our team’s wayfinding strategy and design efforts for this mixed-use neighborhood of over 450 businesses and 3,000 residents that receives 2M+ visitors annually. Historic Third Ward is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The interpretive program for this 3.3-acre site will speak to a variety of audiences, including veterans, naturalists, and history buffs, with particular emphasis on North Central Texas and the community of Flower Mound.
